06/2008 - Rosemarie Soares Earns Registered Employee Benefits Consultant (REBC) Designation
Rosemarie Soares has earned the Registered Employee Benefits Consultant (REBC) professional designation from the American College.  Recipients of this designation must complete five courses and ten hours of supervised examinations.  They must also fulfill stringent experience and ethics requirements.  The REBC program was established to raise professional standards and improve the methods of selling and servicing employee benefit plans, managed care and other health insurance topics, compensation, and personnel management.

Ms. Soares holds the position of Account Manager and Supervisor for the Financial Services and Benefits Department at the Sylvia Group of Insurance Agencies.  In addition to the REBC designation, she also holds the Registered Health Underwriter (RHU) designation and is a licensed Life, Accident, and Health broker.  Prior to joining the team, she had worked with AIG Insurance Company as well as Investors Bank & Trust.  Rosemarie served six years in the Marine Corps and left as a Sergeant and Administrative Chief specializing in all aspects of administration.  During her tenure in the Marine Corps, she was honored with receiving various commendations.  A graduate of New Bedford High School, Rosemarie is a Notary Public and was a certified EMT.  She resides in New Bedford and serves as a member of the United Way's Citizens Review Team.
